Breakers has sold to new ownership and is temporarily closed for renovations. See you in Spring 2024!
Note: Kelly & Katie began Breakers in 2018. In 2022, Katie decided to go back to her former profession of being an LCSW.
Kelly and Katie are sisters who have lived by the Jersey Shore in Barnegat for over 22 years. Credit for the restaurant name goes to Mark Ford, Kelly's son who suggested the name "Breakers" after he learned that the name Barnegat came from the Dutch "Barendegat", meaning an inlet with breakers, which is what Henry Hudson and his "Half Moon" crew named the bay area that locals now call home.
Kelly and Katie thought it was an appropriate name to match their vision of the restaurant, and captured their affinity for the Barnegat Bay area perfectly.
They are excited to invite you to their happy neighborhood destination for a fun, fantastic dining out experience and comfortable atmosphere. Breakers is the place to find the best selection of local craft beers, handmade cocktails, tasty fresh dishes, and excellent customer service. After all, isn't that what everyone wants when they go out?
Breakers Kitchen & Tap creates good vibes, happy people, great conversations, and most of all: delicious food and drinks. And it's all topped off with the personal touch. They want every customer to feel valued and feel at home. Both Kelly and Katie have a firm commitment to being personally present and personally responsible for your quality dining out experience. Ask for them if you want to share your feedback and suggestions. Enjoy!

This restaurant is dedicated to our Dad, Mark Lepine, who passed away suddenly in 2011. The last time we saw him was right here in this very building (as the pictures show) when it was Longshots, enjoying lunch and pints of beer with great service from Mindy, our bartender. One of his dreams was to own a restaurant, and we know he's getting a kick out of all this.
We love you, Dad!
